Investigators are probing the security guard's actions during the chaos that broke out Tuesday afternoon at the Highlands Ranch STEM School when two students allegedly opened fire on classmates, killing one student and injuring others, a law enforcement official with knowledge of the investigation told ABC News. "The next thing I know is [the shooter] is pulling a gun and he's telling nobody to move, and that's when Kendrick lunged at him", Giasolli said.
Graduates at the School of Mines are planning to wear stickers when they walk across the stage to honor Kendrick who wanted to be an engineer.
The shooting took place exactly a week after a gunman killed two students and wounded four at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte.
At 1:53 p.m. local time, police responded to STEM School in Highlands Ranch in response to a report of shots fired.
Earlier, the Douglas County School District announced all schools was on lock down and canceled all after-school activities.
Because the attack happened only miles from Columbine and just weeks after the shooting's 20th anniversary, questions quickly arose about whether it was inspired by the 1999 massacre.
Mr. Spurlock said the suspects were armed and unhurt.
"He doesn't even realize how many lives he saved by stopping a school shooting", Whitus said.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office said it had identified one of the suspects as Devon Erickson, 18.
Manchester City vs. Leicester City
Kevin De Bruyne is out for the home side as he continues his injury-affected season at Manchester City . Pep, however, is equally as convinced that they will show the same desire as he expects from Leicester.
Both suspected gunmen were arrested.
"I heard a gunshot", said Makai Dixon, 8, a second grader who had been training for this moment, with active shooter drills and lockdowns, since he was in kindergarten.
Another student is also being hailed as a hero for risking his life to disarm one of the shooters.
Short said Castillo was amusing and empathetic and loved helping people.
One student has died and eight others were injured following a shooting at STEM School Highlands Ranch in Colorado.
The statement says the group is "is deeply sorry any part of this vigil did not provide the support, caring and sense of community we sought to foster and facilitate".
Colorado Governor Jared Polis said he would send extra police officers to the scene while the White House also tweeted its condolences to the victims.
"While kids were running one way, our son turned and ran toward the shooter", the family also said.
