Utterly Class Lomachenko Floors Crolla With Fourth Round Crushing KO

14 April 2019

A minute into the next round it was all over, Crolla going down just a minute in after a hard right hook from Lomachenko.

The Ukrainian pound-for-pound king had his complete arsenal at his disposal, including blazing hand speed, devastating punching power and a superior ring IQ.

"I want to unify all the titles", said Lomachenko, adding he wants to fight Mikey Garcia, who holds the WBC lightweight title.

"I come to the United Kingdom, unify titles, so we'll see".

But he faces a mammoth task against Lomachenko, one of the sport's most dominant fighters. I thought it was a poor stoppage because although he wasn't particularly in the fight, it was a poor stoppage. He stayed there for some time but even when he was helped to his feet his camp still had to support his wobbly legs.

Manchester-born Crolla was a heavy 100-1 underdog prior to the fight.

Sarri concedes that Eden Hazard is irreplaceable
I think the best players in the world play for your Madrid's and Barcelona's and at this point Chelsea aren't. Florentino Perez has already managed to agree terms in personal with Eden Hazard and his representatives.

Crolla dropped to 34-7-3 as he landed just a handful of punches and only survived the third round because of the bell.

Promoter Eddie Hearn said afterwards that Lomachenko's skill was too much for Crolla. Lomachenko wanted to fight IBF champion Richard Commey, but Commey suffered a hand injury. The fight was promoted by Top Rank Boxing and aired live on the Worldwide Leader in Sports' digital streaming service, ESPN+. Tonight he will be defending both the WBA and WBO belt against Anthony Crolla, the former WBA champion.

He came up short in a pair of bouts against the highly-regarded Jorge Linares over the next two years, but rebuilt with three successive victories.

Crolla is returning to the ring for the first time since defeating Daud Yordan by unanimous decision in November.

Lomachenko has retained his WBO and WBA lightweight titles after the one-sided bout at the Staples Center.
