President Trump Takes Aim At Mueller AGAIN As Report Release Draws Near

09 April 2019

On Sunday former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who has been part of President Donald Trump's legal team since a year ago, told CBS on their program "Face the Nation" that he would support presenting special counsel Robert Mueller's report to House Judiciary Committee Chair Jerrold Nadler.

"Only know the conclusions, and on the big one, No Collusion", the president tweeted.

Nadler, a Democrat who is also demanding release of the full Mueller report to Congress, sent a letter to Barr citing media reports that Mueller's team prepared their own summaries of the special counsel's report.

One of the many investigations targeting Mr Trump on Capitol Hill and in the USA court system, the House Democrat's probe into the president's tax returns could pull back the curtain on his business empire and his reputation as a savvy dealmaker. He also said Mueller declined to prosecute or exonerate Trump on the question of obstruction of justice.

In a statement on Thursday, Barr defended the decision to release a brief summary letter two days after receiving the report on March 22.

Attorney General William Barr is reviewing the almost 400-page report and says he plans to release it in the coming days after redacting confidential information, such as secret grand jury testimony or foreign intelligence that was included in the report.

The actual report has not yet been released. He has previously said he did not believe it would be in the public's interest to release the full document in a piecemeal or gradual fashion, and that he did not intend for his letter summarizing Mueller's "principal conclusions" to be an "exhaustive recounting" of the special counsel's investigation. Democrats suspect the evidence could be damning to the president -setting up a legal and political showdown. Barr has indicated he will withhold some information in it from Congress. Jerry Nadler, should be provided all of the information from the Mueller report he has requested from the Justice Department.

So far, Barr has held firm to his stance that he will release this month more of the Mueller report, but stripped of evidence and testimony given to Mueller's grand jury. Barr told Congress on March 29, to expect a version of special counsel's Russian Federation report by mid-April.

New York Times correspondent Katie Rogers took issue Sunday with President Donald Trump's latest Twitter attack on the media, pointing out a potential logical flaw in the president's argument.
