Syracuse suspends starting G Frank Howard for NCAA Tournament

23 March 2019

No. 8 Syracuse is set to make their fortieth tournament run beginning Thursday night against No. 9 Baylor in Salt Lake City.

According to a statement from Syracuse Basketball, starting senior guard Frank Howard - due to a violation of athletic department policy - will be out for an indefinite period of time.

Trump tweets that Israel should have sovereignty over Golan Heights
Campaign for Palestinian Rights. "You could imagine what would have happened if Israel were not in the Golan", he said. Israel captured this key region from Syria during the Six Day War in 1967 and formally annexed the territory in 1981.

Syracuse's Frank Howard (23) scored 46 points over two ACC tournament games.

Howard stepped up when Tyus Battle missed the ACC tournament with a bruised hip, scoring a combined 46 points while shooting 50 percent from the field against Pitt and Duke. The Syracuse Orange are a -2.0 point favorite over Baylor in this game. Replays appeared to show him sticking his foot out as Duke's Zion Williamson went by, but he said he was not trying to intentionally trip the Blue Devils star, who stumbled a bit but regained his balance and was otherwise not affected. The Bears lost their final three regular season games, then dropped their Big 12 Tournament opener to Iowa State. I thought the players made a great adjustment. This game will likely be a battle of zone defenses, as both Baylor and Syracuse use the 2-3 zone throughout the season. Buddy Boeheim, who has been playing really well as of late, will also need to take on a larger role for the Orange to advance.
