On Sunday, hundreds of community members gathered outside Halmstad Elementary School in Chippewa Falls. Witnesses said there were about 10 girls in total, with several adults on hand to supervise them.

A small group of girl scouts were picking up trash along County Road P, near highway 29 overpass in Chippewa County on Saturday morning.

Police say 21-year-old Colten Treu (TROO) had been inhaling chemical vapors before crashing his truck into the group as they picked up trash along a rural Wisconsin highway in Lake Hallie. "The Girl Scout Movement everywhere stands with our sister Girl Scouts in Wisconsin to grieve and comfort one another in the wake of this awful tragedy". But by Saturday evening, the 21-year-old turned himself in to the authorities.

Authorities are set to release the names of the girls and the woman who died on Monday.

Counselors, faith leaders and trained school staff would be available at least through Monday at the two elementary schools, according to Chippewa Falls School District Superintendent Heidi Eliopoulos.

The Chippewa Falls Area Unified School District also commented Sunday, showing their support in the midst of the tragedy.

In a message to parents, Superintendent Heidi Eliopoulos said: "This is a hard time for our students, families and staff".

The 21-year-old driver, Colten Treu of Chippewa Falls, later surrendered.
