On Sunday, hundreds of community members gathered outside Halmstad Elementary School in Chippewa Falls. Witnesses said there were about 10 girls in total, with several adults on hand to supervise them.
A small group of girl scouts were picking up trash along County Road P, near highway 29 overpass in Chippewa County on Saturday morning.
Police say 21-year-old Colten Treu (TROO) had been inhaling chemical vapors before crashing his truck into the group as they picked up trash along a rural Wisconsin highway in Lake Hallie. "The Girl Scout Movement everywhere stands with our sister Girl Scouts in Wisconsin to grieve and comfort one another in the wake of this awful tragedy". But by Saturday evening, the 21-year-old turned himself in to the authorities.
Authorities are set to release the names of the girls and the woman who died on Monday.
Counselors, faith leaders and trained school staff would be available at least through Monday at the two elementary schools, according to Chippewa Falls School District Superintendent Heidi Eliopoulos.
The Chippewa Falls Area Unified School District also commented Sunday, showing their support in the midst of the tragedy.
In a message to parents, Superintendent Heidi Eliopoulos said: "This is a hard time for our students, families and staff".
The 21-year-old driver, Colten Treu of Chippewa Falls, later surrendered.

Another caravan of up to 2,000 people is on its way from Tapachula to Huixtla in Mexico's Chiapas state , which borders Guatemala. The French news agency reports the group was in the Mexican town of Tapachula, about 1,850 kilometers from McAllen, on Tuesday.

A fourth scout was seriously injured and remains in critical condition. A fourth girl who was struck by the pickup remained hospitalized in critical condition as of Saturday evening.
Treu was arrested on four counts of homicide by negligent use of a motor vehicle, five counts of hit and run and four counts of homicide while intoxicated (use of inhalants), police said.

A Ford F-150 pickup truck crossed through a lane of traffic and into a ditch where the Girl Scout troop was picking up trash, killing three and an adult woman, officials said.
Lake Hallie police Sgt. Daniel Sokup told The Associated Press Treu will be charged with four counts of homicide.
The Lake Hallie Police Department would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the families involved. "We grieve with you", the department posted on Facebook.
The four were killed while cleaning garbage out of a ditch in Lake Hallie. Killed in the crash was Andrew McMorris, 12, a seventh-grader who had just started taking flying lessons and hoped to one day earn his Eagle Scout badge.
