Jim Carrey Plans to Bring Robotnik to Life With ‘Magic’ and ‘Desperation’

Sonic is a cool hedgehog with plenty of attitude. And now he's getting his own movie, and the actor who will voice the speedy, blue hero has been revealed.

Paramount Pictures' live-action Sonic the Hedgehog movie is moving fast and loose - in more ways than one!

Ben Schwartz, famous for playing the obnoxious "pick-up artist and baller" Jean-Ralphio on Parks And Recreation has been picked to voice the titular speed demon in the live-action/animation hybrid Sonic The Hedgehog.

You might be wondering why Ben Schwartz mentions his love for blue, iconic characters when confirming Variety's story, and that's because he's also voicing Leonardo on the upcoming Nickelodeon animated series Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (which we learned a lot more about at San Diego Comic-Con last month).

Hijacking not ruled out over disappearance of missing flight MH370
There have been a host of theories about why the plane disappeared, ranging from an accident to a hijacking or even a terror plot. The report said there was no sign the plane was evading radar detection or that it was taken over by remote control.

Scwartz, who is now voicing Dewey Duck on Disney Channel's Duck Tales reboot, can next be seen in the Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish comedy Night School. A little known fact about Schwartz is that he was also credited under "Vocal Consultants" in Star Wars: The Force Awakens' BB-8.

According to this report from Collider, Adam Pally and Neal McDonough will be joining the cast in yet undisclosed roles. Have you seen any of Schwartz's work? He joins a cast that includes James Marsden, Tika Sumpter and Jim Carrey.

"It will be live-action", he went on to say, adding a level of intrigue to the production process as Dr. Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik is usually shown as having an ovoid body type. Deadpool's Tim Miller will serve as executive producer on the project.

Carrey finalized negotiations to play the Sonic villain earlier this summer, and is now confirmed to portray him in the upcoming 2019 film.
