Tyronn Lue warns against counting Cavs out in Finals

30 May 2018

In the third quarter, point guard Stephen Curry scored 14 of the Warriors 33 points as they turned an 11-point deficit into a seven point lead entering the final quarter.

According to SportsOddsHistory.com, the Cavs, who now possess +650 (bet $100 to win $650) odds of winning the series, are the biggest Finals underdog since the website began tracking such data since 2002.

The Warriors are about to win their second straight National Basketball Association championship and their third in the last four seasons - all of them coming at the expense of the Cleveland Cavaliers, who won't have enough even if LeBron James plays to the absolute utmost of his capabilities.

Overall, James has appeared in in 164 playoff games during this run, with at least four more coming.

The Warriors will face LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers for the fourth consecutive time in the NBA Finals which begin on Friday.

Oddsmakers are in agreement, and have made the Cavaliers a 12-point underdog for Game 1 on Thursday night - the largest point spread for a Finals-opening game since peach baskets. In fact, the last time James wasn't in the Finals, it was a great year for the Los Angeles Lakers, who defeated the Boston Celtics in an epic seven-game series back in 2010.

"That's the conversation I had with T-Lue", Green said.

Fellow senior Carley Hoover entered the game for the final out of the game following Florida State's late inning comeback attempt. He played in 11 games, which was one over the NCAA's limit of 30 percent of games played which would trigger a medical redshirt.

With the team still struggling to find itself after the trades, James had to carry the team, and incredibly, he's taken them all the way to the finals.

Still, we weren't quite prepared for just how hugely Golden State would favored.

Others aside, the fatigue factor for LeBron James can't be ignored. Somebody who is going to match up with me and just bring the best out of me. Golden State beat Cleveland in five games last spring, then cruised through the regular season and beat a tough (if banged up) Rockets team in the Western Conference Finals. In all, James has logged more than 600 more minutes than any player on the Warriors heading into the Finals series, per Anthony Slater of the Athletic. The Los Angeles Lakers were 12-point favorites over the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 1 of the 2001 Finals, a game won by the Sixers. James responded with 46 points in Game 6).

"I'm just trying to play in a way that will help us win a championship".

Since Steve Kerr took over as head coach in 2014, the Warriors have lost 20 playoff games; 16 of those involved their opponents shooting better from behind the three-point line.

While Love has been solid, Smith and Thompson haven't always come through this season for Cleveland.
