The shopping giant has announced that its Amazon Key service now allows you to link compatible cars to the service so deliveries can be brought to your vehicle wherever it may be - so long as it's somewhere publicly accessible. A connected auto service plan will enable Amazon Key to connect with your vehicle for in-car deliveries. As the delivery window inevitably shrinks down from four hours to something more narrow, the options for groceries will no doubt increase.
Is in-car delivery available to all customers?
Amazon Key In-Car is now available in 37 United States cities, and currently works with 2015 or newer Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Cadillac with OnStar; and 2015 or newer Volvo cars with Volvo On Call, according to an Amazon spokesperson.
The 37-city launch includes Detroit with more cities to follow. After authorization, the vehicle is unlocked so the courier can deliver the package inside.
Another customer has been using the new service to have birthday presents for her daughter delivered.
Amazon officials said the company has gone through rigorous security reviews and offers what they call a "happiness guarantee".
You won't have to make any additional purchases this time since the in-car delivery only requires the Amazon Key app and connected technology embedded in your ride.

The 2004 Olympic silver medallist also had a few choice words for Brook, saying: "I will fight and beat Kell Brook . He followed that up with some fierce body shots and the referee stepped in to end the fight in a flash.
There are also limitations on which vehicles are eligible for in-car delivery. Once the driver is confirmed to be at the right place with the right package, the vehicle is unlocked. Amazon expects those locations to typically be at a customer's home or workplace, according to a company press release. Receiving a package securely and reliably in your auto, without you having to be there, is something we think many people will appreciate.
People are leery of giving Amazon a key to their homes.
Can't get home fast enough for your package delivery?
"As a Prime member, get your Amazon packages securely delivered right into your vehicle parked at home, at work or near other locations in your address book", says Amazon.
Last year, a security firm identified a flaw in the Amazon's similar Amazon Key home delivery system that would let a driver temporarily disable the security camera and roam a customer's house. If Amazon has your auto information, there's no reason it can't deliver packages wherever you're parked for an extended period of time.
What happens if I decide to move my vehicle last minute during my delivery window?
Still, these safety measures won't do enough to convince customers who are skeptical about letting a stranger into their vehicle.
