Prisoner being deported escapes ICE agents at JFK Airport

30 March 2018

ICE agents waited over an hour to notify local cops that a detainee had escaped their custody at Kennedy Airport, sources said.

The agents took him through X-ray screening, removed his handcuffs and were about to escort him onto a plane, when he bolted, sources said.

Law enforcement sources say he has a violent history, and was being deported over past weapons offenses. Mbacke was caught on surveillance video fleeing the airport in a yellow cab during that time.

Port Authority police have released a statement, saying: 'An individual being transported by federal immigration officials at JFK Airport last night eluded custody during transfer to a connecting flight. He was wearing a purple or black shirt, jeans and sneakers.

He is described as being 6-foot-3 and weighing 190 pounds. Federal authorities would know if he is still at large.

Mohamadou Lamine Mbacke, 31, remained at large Wednesday, according to the Port Authority of NY and New Jersey, which oversees the airport.

The agency says Mbacke entered the country lawfully in 2005 but violated the terms of his status.

The report said that these deportations have not been getting much attention because Trump's immigration focus has been on building a wall with Mexico and deporting Latin American immigrants.
