According to the New York Times, McDougal claims she was misled by American Media about the contract, in which she received the $150K for her "exclusive life rights" to any affair she had with a married man and to write a few fitness columns for the paper.
McDougal claims in the docs that Trump's lawyer, Michael Cohen, was secretly involved with AMI in the effort to pay her off and shut her up. because the head of the company, David Pecker, is friends with Trump and he had just secured the Republican nomination.
McDougal, a former Playboy model who says she thought she was selling her story about her alleged affair with Donald Trump to The National Enquirer parent American Media Inc. for publication has sued to be released from that deal, The New York Times reported.
"She will no longer be quiet".
The lawsuit claims McDougal was not told AMI had no obligation to run articles she had written or that they were simultaneously negotiating deals to kill other negative stories about Mr. Trump, and that his representatives received constant updates throughout the negotiations previous year.
Trump has denied both affairs. Trump's wife Melania Trump gave birth to the president's youngest son Barron in 2006.

Authorities say the package that exploded at a FedEx ground facility near San Antonio was on a conveyer belt when it detonated. Thad Holt, 76, said he is now watching his steps as he makes his way through a section of town near the latest attack.
American Media has since published McDougal's picture on one cover and featured her in about two dozen columns, the Times reported. "Through efforts including the collusion of her own lawyer, AMI has consistently deceived and manipulated Mr. McDougal through an illegitimate contract".
Clifford and McDougal tell strikingly similar stories about their experiences with Trump, which included alleged trysts at the same Lake Tahoe golf tournament in 2006, dates at the same Beverly Hills hotel and promises of apartments as gifts. But several days later, the media company declined to buy it, the complaint reads, and "Mr. Davidson revealed that, in fact, there was no money in escrow". Instead, she claims her story was buried. and she didn't get the publicity she was promised.
Law&Crime reached out to Davidson and A.M.I. for comment, but they have not responded.
The news of McDougal's suit came as NY judge allowed a defamation case brought by Summer Zervos, who has accused Trump of sexual assault, to move forward by denying a defense motion to dismiss the case.
The alleged affairs Donald Trump had with Karen McDougal and Stephanie Clifford occurred around the same time.
