Astori death shocks Italy

06 March 2018

An autopsy is due to determine the worldwide defender's precise cause of death as tributes pour in for the late Fiorentina captain from across the globe.

The world of football has come together to pay tribute to the Italy global, with governing bodies, clubs and players all saluting the centre-back.

Prosecutors have opened a routine investigation into the death of Fiorentina captain and Italy worldwide Davide Astori.

As such, there is now no suggestion of foul play involved in the passing of the former AC Milan youth player, who subsequently starred at the likes of Cagliari and Roma before moving to Fiorentina.

In 2014, Astori agreed a season-long loan to Roma for £1.8m and the Giallorossi paid a further £4.5m to make the deal permanent.

The Italian outfit initially said the cause of death was still unknown, but Udine prosecutor Antonio De Nicolo has now revealed that it was due to a suspected cardiac arrest.

Italy is still reeling in shock following the sudden death on Sunday of the 31-year-old defender who played for his country 14 times.

Astori scored his only Azzurri goal against Uruguay in the third-place match of the 2013 Confederations Cup.

Bravo also notes that the report will contain evidence on Reigns and other former & current WWE Superstars. This year, the rumblings are stronger than ever. "And I am sick of it", said Reigns.

Astori began his professional career with Italian team Cagliari in 2008 after coming through the AC Milan youth system.

He also became a father for the first time last month.

Legendary Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon posted on social media following the shock news of Davide Astori's death.

Radja Nainggolan, a Belgian global who played with Astori at two clubs, posted a photo of the two of them joyously celebrating a goal at Cagliari.

"It seems impossible. I'm in a state of disbelief and I cry with his family and all of Fiorentina.

I wish to send my condolences to Davide's family", the former Leicester and Chelsea boss said. "Goodbye Captain", he wrote on Twitter.

"You were the best expression of an old-fashioned world", Buffon said, "one that people have left behind, and which was governed by values like altruism, elegance, politeness and respect toward others. You've been one of the best sportspeople I've ever met".

He leaves behind long-term girlfriend Francesca Fioretti and their two-year-old daughter Vittoria.
