And finally, there are two new but long overdue functions coming to Assistant: routines and location-based reminders. Specifically, Google teased new integrations for its assistant with hardware from LG, Sony and Xiaomi.

Google's very own virtual assistant may just be a year and a half old, but it has been decades in the making. Originally announced alongside the Pixel 2 phones past year, routines will let users combine multiple actions into a single command, like turning off the lights and lowering the thermostat when you say, "OK Google, good night". Through Google's Assistant Carrier program, the search giant says that wireless providers will be able to work with the digital assistant to let subscribers access customer support, add new services and get information about their monthly plan.

The Archos Hello is powered by the Google Assistant although it's not as powerful. Sprint, Koodo, Telus and Vodafone are the first to actively develop Assistant integrations, with many more "coming soon". With Routines, you'll be able to use simple voice commands to accomplish all sorts of "routine" tasks. Also, users will now be able to set location-based reminders using their Google Assistant supported smart speaker.

One such example would be a user setting the phrase "Hey Google, I'm home" to have the Assistant turn on the lights in the house, start a music playlist, and share reminders for what needs to get done. That could mean by telling Google Home to remind you to pick up beer at the grocery store and then receiving a reminder to do so once you arrive.
