21 February 2018

The Yankees also gave up prospects Nick Solak (Rays) and Tyler Widener (Diamondbacks) in the deal.

Update (6:35 PM ET): This is a three-team deal also involving the Diamondbacks, per Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic.

The 25-year-old Drury played in 114 games last season at second for the Diamondbacks and figures to start at second or third for the Yankees on Opening Day. The Yankees will receive infielder Brandon Drury from the Diamondbacks and send minor league right-handed pitcher Taylor Widener to Arizona.

Solak, 23, was the Yankees' second-round draft pick in 2016 and was rated by MLB.com as the eighth-best prospect in their farm system. He made his big league debut last season and could have some upside because of his exceptional curveball. He spent the rest of the season with Triple-A Reno, going 8-7 with a 5.39 ERA (122-IP, 73-ER) and 116 strikeouts in 22 starts. Multiple starters and a high-end prospect are changing teams as of Tuesday. This past season with High-A Tampa, he pitched 119 1/3 innings and posted a 3.39 ERA with a 129/50 K/BB ratio. The Rays will also get southpaw Anthony Banda and two players to be named from the D-backs.

He was selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 10th round of the 2012 June Draft out of San Jacinto College in Houston.

Ultimately, the Diamondbacks got the best out of this trade. He hit a combined.297 with 12 homers and 53 RBIs for Class A Tampa and Double-A Trenton last season. He hit.286/.344/.429 in 30 games at that level, but in 100 games at High-A Tampa, Solak hit.301/.397/.460. He is now ranked as the #5 second base prospect by MLB.com. He did rise to #68 on Baseball America's 2017 mid-season ranking.
