The 'unique' reason why Aston Villa signed Axel Tuanzebe

27 January 2018

According to the Birmingham Mail, Leeds United have joined the race for Aston Villa bomber Ross McCormack who spent the first part of the season on loan in Melbourne City.

He backed that up a few months afterwards in the UEFA Champions League win versus CSKA Moscow.

The clubs have agreed a deal which will see the 20-year-old move to Villa Park for the rest of the season.

"Tuanzebe is a very good player that is not having lots of possibilities to play here", the Portuguese said.

Tuanzebe becomes our first signing of the January transfer window and will now train with the squad ahead of our Sky Bet Championship encounter with Sheffield United next week.

The youngster impressed during the latter stages of the 2016/17 campaign but a lack of opportunities this season - just one start - has led to talk of a loan move away.

A resolution to fund the government did not pass, sending the federal government into a shutdown. They want a deal on immigration - and then they'll think about reopening the government.

Following the news of Tuanzebe's arrival, Villa fans took to Twitter to express their delight over the new signing.

He will join up with United loanee keeper Sam Johnston, who has been excellent in goal for Villa this season in keeping 12 clean sheets so far.

"If things had been different, I would have recalled Robert Snodgrass from his loan at Aston Villa and we would have done it by now but it's not possible".

He will be hoping to impress and receive regular game time with Villa, who are now fourth in the second tier and pushing for a return to the Premier League after a two-year absence.

Steve Bruce's side now sit in fourth place in the table, three points behind Derby County who occupy the final automatic promotion spot.
