Twitter working on a new bookmarking feature for tweets

11 October 2017

According to tweets from Twitter executives and product managers on Monday, the upcoming bookmarking feature will let users save tweets in a private list for future reference. But from now, Twitter users will be able to bookmark the tweets so they can do whatever they want with the bookmarked tweets.

Twitter is developing a way for users to save tweets for later.

Twitter said: 'We want every person around the world to easily express themselves on Twitter, so we're doing something new: we're going to try out a longer limit, 280 characters, in languages impacted by cramming (which is all except Japanese, Chinese, and Korean). Coleman confirmed the feature, dubbed #SaveForLater because everything has to be a hashtag these days, was in the works as the result of a company HackWeek project. "We'll be tweeting to ask for feedback, and share our thinking as we compare designs, experiment, do research, and more", she wrote, encouraging users to chime in using the hash tag #Saveforlater.

The tournament starts on October 6 and ends on October 28 with the final being hosted at Kolkata's Salt Lake stadium. The two-time champions reached their first U-17 World Cup for a decade in, at times, stop-start circumstances.

Twitter's other employees, including new hired Sriram Krishnan, who is a senior director of product also noted Twitter's plans for this new feature. They include bookmarking with a heart, DM-ing them to themselves and even retweeting. The "send via DM" option is expected to be replaced by an overflow menu that reveals a similar feature. You can choose from these options to a particular tweet. A new bookmark section will also appear on main app menu that will display all the saves.

Twitter's move to add bookmarking to its service comes just weeks after the company began to test longer tweets.

The prototype shown below indicates the possible bookmark feature, which is likely to change.
