Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has a new report on how exactly these changes could be implemented, with Gurman's sources suggesting that Apple is looking for ways to replace the functionality usually assigned to the home button. Underneath the dock will be a "thin, software bar in lieu of the home button".

It appears that the Apple iPhone 8 will be a momentous event as the rumors and leaked specs and features about the possible unprecedented features have been swirling around over the worldwide web for months. Some sources are predicting that, in-line with Apple's usual MO of getting new devices on sale within a couple of weeks, the iPhone 8 may be around for purchase by September 22, with pre-orders in the run-up to that date.

And the device's announcement will most likely be paired with the announcement of updated iPhone 7 and 7 Plus models, traditionally branded as "S" devices to indicate the hardware revision.
