Kushner promises to present peace plan within four months

"We know that this issue is hard and complex, but nothing is impossible in the face of good efforts", Abbas said during the parley with Kushner, according to official PA news outlet Wafa.

"President Trump has made it clear that it is a top priority for him to work toward achieving a comprehensive and lasting peace agreement between Israelis and Palestinians", a U.S. official said.

The US team is attempting to find a way to kick-start the Israeli-Palestinian peace process in hopes of reaching what Trump has called the "ultimate deal". In addition to his meeting with the Palestinians, he met with officials in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Jordan, as well as Jerusalem, Israel, and Ramallah in the West Bank.

The U.S., however, has described the trip as productive.

An American diplomatic delegation reportedly informed Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas last week that a freeze of Israeli construction in the West Bank would topple Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government.

She denied giving permission for the lyrics to feature in the song saying, "I would like to be excluded from this narrative". Swift wiped her social media pages clean last week and caused a frenzy online with video snippets of slithery snake parts.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will hold talks in Ankara on August 28 amid calls for the resumption of negotiations between the Palestinians and Israelis to end the conflict.

But Palestinian leaders note that the White House has not even said clearly whether its focus will be a two-state solution to the conflict, which has been longstanding U.S. policy.

"We have clearly emphasized to the Americans the importance of having a public statement that has a commitment to the two-state solution", said Ashraf Khatib, a spokesman for the negotiation affairs department of the Palestinian Liberation Organization.

Aloul criticized Kushner's delegation, stating, "Judging from the latest meetings, the delegates didn't bring anything new with them and didn't present any initiative". "We didn't agree to this at all", said Aloul.

Netanyahu said such a deal was "within our reach" and promised to work with the Trump administration "to advance peace, stability and security in our region".

Analysts say a corruption scandal engulfing the Israeli leader will make him even more beholden to fringe elements within his right-wing coalition, likely making him an inflexible negotiating partner.
