Gangrape survivor attacked with acid, Adityanath questions authenticity of report

A 38-year-old rape and acid attack survivor from the Dalit community, faced her fourth acid attack here on Saturday evening in the compound of the hostel she is living in, though she has been accorded police protection.

After this incident police presence for her security and an armed guard inside the hostel. Her condition was stated to be stable. The victim had lodged a written complaint in this connection with the police then.

Police said that they were investigating the matter.

The woman is being treated at King George's Medical University and was said to be out of danger.

The woman are undergoing treatment at trauma centre and right side of her face were injured. In 2013, acid was thrown at her.

The victim, who hails from Raebareli, was rushed to a hospital with burn injuries on her face and neck. The woman is in trauma. "We will take strict action", Additional Director General of Police, Abhay Kumar Prasad said.

The Rae Bareli police have detained Bhondu Singh and Guddu Singh, the two men accused of gangraping her and carrying out the acid attacks on her. The incident took place inside the hostel premises. The attack took place at the shift changing time of gunner.

Police said a formal complaint has not been registered as the family is yet to give a complaint. "The investigation is on, let's see what comes out".

Before this attack, two men had attacked her with acid on-board a moving train in March. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had also gone to meet her in the Hospital and assured the accused will be punished. The brother-duo was sent to jail for sexually assaulting the woman in 2009 and got bail after some time but were taken into custody by police whenever the woman filed fresh complaint against them.They were given clean-chit by government railway police in the March 23 incident recently for want of evidence.

Speaking to ANI, Juhi said, "The law and order has completed broken down in UP. Everyday there are instances of harassment, rapes, murders, and exploitation".

The Samajwadi Party attacked the state's BJP government over the law and order situation. "The two brothers, meanwhile, were not found involved in the fresh attack and whoever is the culprit will be brought to book".
