28 June 2017

The defense resumed its cross-examination of Andrea Constand one day after she broke her long public silence about Cosby by testifying that the comedian gave her three blue pills and then violated her with his fingers in 2004 as she lay paralyzed, unable to tell him to stop.

Andrea Constand claims Bill Cosby drugged and assaulted her in 2004 while she was working for Temple University's women's basketball team. She says he drugged her - leaving her nearly paralyzed - and then molested her.Cosby, once beloved by American audiences as the dad in the long-running TV hit "The Cosby Show" is not charged in the Johnson incident. Cosby has repeatedly denied all criminal wrongdoing, describing his encounter with Constand as consensual. Prosecutors, however, said they will introduce as evidence his words in a 2005 deposition related to the Constand case, when he admitted obtaining the sedative Quaaludes for women and also to giving Constand Benadryl.

Constand went to police in her native Ontario about a year after she says Cosby assaulted her at his suburban Philadelphia home.

"I don't really remember how dim the lights were, but I did have to eat my dinner", Ms Constand said.

Cosby whispered to his lawyers and shook his head during her testimony. Constand filed a civil suit against Cosby in 2005 after a criminal investigation fell apart, and as part of the terms of her settlement in that case, she was forbidden to publicly speak about the alleged assault until her testimony today.

When she awoke in the morning, Mr Cosby gave her tea and a muffin. While more than 60 women have accused Cosby of similar crimes, this is the only case that could possibly send the 79-year-old actor to jail, as the statue of limitations for all other allegations have already expired.

Cosby is charged with aggravated indecent assault. They are your friends.

"He was a Temple friend, somebody I trusted". "In my head I was trying to get my hands to move or my legs to move, but I was frozen", Constand said.

Constand replied: "No, I never got a hold of my phone records". I realized he was not going to tell me what he gave me that night.

Using phone records on Tuesday, Agrusa noted that Constand had called at least six different lawyers, starting on the day she first reported the assault to police. While Cosby's lawyers hope this will show their client's innocence, Constand had another explanation for any differences in her stories.

Constand isn't his only alleged victim on the stand. Asst. District Attorney Kristen Feden asked the former college basketball star before her testimony concluded.

Prosecutors on Monday opened the trial with a woman who broke down in tears as she testified that the comedian had violated her, eight years earlier, at a hotel bungalow in Los Angeles.

"I said, 'I trust you.' I took the pills and I swallowed them down", Constand told the court. One of the incidents she mentioned was their meeting at Foxwoods Resort Casino in CT, wherein he tried to unzip her trousers.

A few weeks later, Ms Sewell said, Ms Johnson disclosed that she had woken up next to Cosby in bed with her clothes askew.
