The Majority Whip remains in serious condition at MedStar Washington Hospital Center after a gunman opened fire at the practice in Alexandria, Virginia, a week ago.
A top Federal Bureau of Investigation official says that the man who opened fire at a Republican baseball practice a week ago didn't appear to be targeting a specific individual and that the attack appears to have been spontaneous. The gunman later died after he was shot by the police.
"It basically allows the Department of Defense, the VA, and your medical doctor who may be down the street from you to use the same electronic medical records", Raczkowski said.
Hodgkinson, who was from IL but was living in Virginia at the time of the shooting, launched his attack carrying two weapons, a 7.62mm SKS rifle and a 9mm handgun, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The main one, which is not a surprise by this point, is that the shooter, James Thomas Hodgkinson, acted alone and had no terrorist connections.
Yet Slater acknowledged that there was much more they didn't know about the former owner of a home inspection business.

He was hit in the left hip, suffering injuries to internal organs, broken bones and severe bleeding, in Wednesday's shooting. That shooting prompted some new security steps, which were not described by officials because they say they never do so.
The list of names Hodgkinson had in his pocket had no other context. Mo Brooks of Alabama, Jeff Duncan of SC and Trent Franks of Arizona. Capitol Police investigated the threat sent to Garrett via a private Facebook message, in which a a fake Facebook account threatened, in detail, to kill Garrett and members of his family. Hodgkinson bought the guns in April, after Trump was elected, Slater said.
Sue Hodgkinson, the wife of the gunman James Hodgkinson, said last week that her husband sold everything he owned from his home inspection business earlier this year before traveling to the Washington area. Hodgkinson was taking prescription drugs, although Slater did not say what the drugs were for or whether he was abusing them. Richard Durbin and Tammy Duckworth.
According to Slater, Hodgkinson kept a storage unit in Alexandria where investigators found 200 rounds of ammunition.
After the shooting, investigators searched Hodgkinson's home in IL and a storage facility in Alexandria he began renting in April. At times, he went to the unit daily and sometimes more than once. Sometimes, he would visit twice a day, but never for more than an hour.
He approached Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-S.C.) as Duncan was leaving the baseball field and asked whether the team playing was a Republican or Democrat team. "When the witness responded that it was a Republican event, Hodgkinson reportedly remained at the baseball field". Slater did not identify which party those lawmakers belong to, whether they had anything in common or whether they were present at the practice. Officials also are running a trace on two weapons, including a rifle and a handgun.
