BET Awards 2017: 6 reasons to tune in

The "One Dance" crooner who is now having the time of his life with the traction he has been gaining in the global music scene, also bagged seven nominations for 2017 Billboard Music Awards, won three Billboard awards and won an award for writing Drake's "One Dance".

Here's a few things to know about the BET Awards, taking place on Sunday, June 25th.

She also revealed that she was thrilled to take up hosting duties. If seeing the "Saturday Night Live" and "Ghostbusters" actress onstage doesn't entice you, maybe the list of expected A-listers will. Mary J. Blige, French Montana, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Bruno Mars, DJ Khaled, Big Sean and others are set to perform during the ceremony.

This year's show will air on Sunday live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles at 8 p.m. EST on BET. Other notable nominations include Chance the Rapper and Migos, who are also up for four nominations. Bruno Mars follows with five nods including "Album of the Year, ' "Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, ' and "Video of the Year" for "24K Magic". Also, "Amazulu" hitmaker Amanda Black and Tanzanian performer Ray Vanny are nominated for Viewer's Choice Award "Best International Act", in conjunction with performers from the UK, South Korea, Canada, Australia and Jamaica.

The BET website doesn't live stream the show, but it takes you backstage and on the red carpet.

Mars has been on an R&B adventure with his latest album, "24K Magic", which was inspired by '90s R&B. New Edition will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award, while Chance the Rapper will receive the Humanitarian Award presented by Walmart. Host Leslie Jones confirmed the news a couple days ago on Twitter.
