Thousands of delirious Real Madrid fans poured onto the streets of the Spanish capital to catch a glimpse of Cristiano Ronaldo and his teammates on Sunday as they paraded the Champions League trophy for a record 12th time. Real won the match 4-1.

It was the Portugal captain's son - Cristiano Ronaldo Jr - who stole the show after the thrilling match with his skills. "We have the world's best players and plenty of youth".

The 20th club trophy of Ronaldo's career comes at the end of a season in which he also helped Madrid end a five-year title drought in Spain.

A smiling Ronaldo, speaking to the press as he sat alongside Ferguson, described a season when they won the league and European Cup double for the first time in 59 years as "fantastic".

"It is something special we are doing at the moment and we need to keep going because this moment will not last forever", Modric said.

Ronaldo played a pivotal role in Madrid's success, bringing back-to-back titles to the Spanish giants and he said afterwards that there is plenty of life and more trophies in him yet.

"I am very happy - an incredible season again".

Real Madrid became the first team in the Champions League era to win back-to-back titles with their 4-1 victory over Juventus in Cardiff on Saturday. "I have a year left in my contract and I think that I'll be here the next year".

But let's not forget just how vital Ronaldo's days at Manchester United were for his development.

"The truth is it has been a spectacular season", added Ronaldo.

Real Madrid star Gareth Bale insists he is happy at the European champions and has no plans to leave despite speculation over his future.

"We have won three Champions Leagues in four seasons so we have to be in that category", he said.

Asensio scored one of the goals in the final on Saturday.
