Still, the overall picture shows universal improvement across the sports spectrum, even among low-resource institutions. "The vast majority of our teams are well ahead of the national average for their sports".
Virginia led the way with five programs achieving ideal multi-year scores of 1,000: men's cross country, women's basketball, women's cross country, women's golf and volleyball.
Alabama was one of four SEC schools to have more than four teams receive public recognition from the NCAA for their April scores.
In addition, five MSU teams produced a flawless 1,000 April for the past academic year - men's golf, men's tennis, women's basketball, women's tennis, and volleyball.
Football's April of 968 was tied for eighth in the conference with Colorado. The national average is 966.

The NCAA has been tracking April for 12 years. Within it, OSU's five sports with flawless scores included men's golf and four women's sports - cross country golf, soccer and tennis.
The Georgia gymnastics (995), men's cross-country (994), women's golf (994), women's swimming (993), soccer (993) and women's tennis (992) all earned almost ideal April scores.
Izzo's team is one of just 20 men's basketball programs in Division I with a flawless score.
At VMI, mixed rifle (988) and men's soccer (976) had the school's top scores. Men's cross country achieved the highest score for the fourth straight time while softball posted its third consecutive flawless score and its eighth overall.
