IPhone 8 rumored production issues could cause delays and shortages

25 April 2017

According to Kuo, the mass production of the OLED iPhone will likely be delayed until October or November.

Kuo's assessment adds to the mounting evidence of a delayed - or, at least, severely supply constrained - iPhone 8. "Sever supply shortages" may continue for some time and could cap overall shipments of units of the tenth anniversary iPhone in the latter part of 2017.

UBS analysts believe, based on industry checks, that the less-exciting iPhone models could launch before the redesigned iPhone and will go into production first. The iterative iPhone 7s models will likely launch in September, keeping up with the annual pattern.

The phone also looks to be visibly fatter than the existing iPhone 7, although exact dimensions have yet to be revealed.

Two other new models could use the same screen technology and sizes as the current iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

"The processing chip running the phones, Apple's custom A11, is also being manufactured on new 10-nanometer scale equipment, further complicating matters", the report quoted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo as saying. However, it seems fans wanting the all-new phone will have to wait a bit longer to get their hands on the iPhone 8.

Wildfires rage across Florida, destroying homes and displacing thousands
More than 3,100 acres were scorched in a blaze near Everglades Boulevard and 30th Street, the Caloosahatchee Forestry Center said. Jim Karels, director of Florida Forest Service, said the fires had been experienced earlier than normally expected.

Drexel Hamilton analyst Brian White has previously suggested that the OLED iPhone 8 could be delayed by several weeks, due to production challenges around Apple's next-generation camera.

It's sounding more and more like the iPhone 8 won't arrive until almost the end of 2017, a couple months after Apple usually introduces new iPhones. The new leak corroborates previous rumors regarding the inclusion of a vertical rectangle pattern for the new dual camera.

Apple is apparently testing an all-new iPhone design with an all-screen on the front panel, curved glass and a stainless unibody steel frame.

iPhone 8 is expected to sport OLED display which will help in battery saving, and is also tipped to be waterproof and dustproof.

KGI now expects Apple to sell 80-90 million iPhones in the second half of the year, down from the firm's initial forecast of 110 million units.

The expected features of the upcoming iPhone 8 include a new front camera with 3D capabilities, a dual camera setup at the back and a fingerprint sensor.
