"We got him", Worcester District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. said Saturday afternoon during authorities' official announcement.

The suspect's name is Angel C. Ortiz, and according to a source, he's being held at the Massachusetts State Police Millbury Barracks.

An arrest has been made in the case of murdered jogger Vanessa Marcotte.

Officials announced Saturday that they have arrested a man in connection with the murder of a New York City woman killed while running near her mother's MA home last summer.

The 27-year-old Marcotte grew up in nearby Leominster (LEH'-mihn-stur).

The district attorney credited "an alert state trooper assigned to the detective unit" with recently spotting a dark SUV, the type of vehicle witnesses reported seeing in the area.

Colon is now being charged with aggravated assault, aggravated assault and battery, and assault with attempt to rape, said Early. She was visiting her mother in Princeton, Mass. when the murder took place, she was out on a run.

Although Ortiz has not been formally charged with murder yet, Early said he anticipates a murder charge soon, and referenced Ortiz as Marcotte's "killer".

According to WCVB, a source close to the investigation said Marcotte was found without her clothes and had burns on her head, feet, and hands.

The DA said that they have received more than 1,300 tips in the case, which has helped put together the suspect description.
