Attorney: Mayor not being truthful about claims

Seattle Times Reports Two Other Men Raised Allegations a Decade Ago: "While The Seattle Times chose not to publish the 2008 allegations, the similarities between those claims and the new public case gave additional weight and relevance to the previous information".

"These false accusations are meant to damage a prominent elected official who has been a defender of vulnerable populations for decades", Murray spokesman Jeff Reading said in a statement.

Murray spokesman Jeff Reading told the Times the allegations were a "shakedown" that had conspicuously surfaced weeks from the campaign filing deadline for reelection.

One of the men claiming the current the Seattle mayor raped him is now 46-years-old and identified by the initials the legal filing.

He filed a lawsuit in King County Superior Court Thursday.

The 61-year-old Murray was elected mayor in 2014 after almost two decades of service in the Washington State Legislature. These unsubstantiated assertions, dating back three decades, are categorically false.

A year later, the alleged rape victim contacted both the media and lawmakers in Olympia, Washington, to alert them about the man he considers a pedophile.

The man, who admits he worked as a prostitute and was on drugs at the time, claims Murray propositioned him for sexual favors for as little as $10-$20 in his Capitol Hill apartment. He is married, with his husband working for the City of Seattle. They accuse Murray of abusing them in the 1980s. He says being honest is "part of a "healing process" after years of 'the shame, the embarrassment, the guilt, the humiliation that I put myself through and that he put me through'". In interviews with The Seattle Times, two other men claim he abused them.

The lawsuit against Murray, 61, was filed Thursday by a man from Kent who is now in his 40s.

Around 1980, when a 13-year-old Simpson was living in a group home, he was allowed to stay the night at Murray's. "Mayor Murray will vigorously fight these allegations in court". As mayor he pushed to increase the city's minimum wage to $15 an hour.

Murray's private lawyer, Robert Sulkin, dismissed the allegations in a press conference and said Murray had not had any inappropriate conduct with a minor.

The accuser, who spent some time as a prostitute and admits to having past criminal convictions, says in the lawsuit that he made a decision to come forward publicly with the allegations after receiving counseling following the recent death of his father. Simpson told reporters that he'd be willing to testify in a civil trial. "I don't necessarily think that he destroyed my life but I believe a lot of the problems I have stemmed from this".

The eight-page lawsuit against Murray contains allegations that D.H., who was then 15 years old and legally unable to consent, saw another underage boy at the apartment on at least one occasion.
