Instead of calling the police, Fanning is accused of walking next door to his residential home, getting a.45 handgun, then returning to his business home and shooting Rosa while he stood naked and unarmed in the shower.

The homeowner, who has not been identified, was arrested on second-degree murder charges, the sheriff's office said.

Fanning phoned 911 after the fatal incident, though offered no explanation as to why he shot the man before he called police, the Olympian reported. After noticing the door was kicked in, Fanning found Rosa in the shower and yelled at him to get off his property. Fanning told police he thought the stranger was drunk and became afraid when the stranger made threats toward him.

According to detectives, the homeowner shot the intruder, who he found in the shower, multiple times, killing him.

Rosa, 31, was from Bothell, Washington. "There is more to the story that cannot be released yet". Now, the man accused of shooting the teacher may face first-degree murder charges.

"If he had time to leave and get a gun, he had time to call the police, this guy should be locked up", another user wrote.

The Mason County Sheriff's Office responded to some of the concerns over Twitter, writing that people should wait until more information is released before making judgments.

Washington law says "no person in the state shall be placed in legal jeopardy of any kind whatsoever for protecting by any reasonable means necessary, himself or herself, his or her family, or his or her real or personal property".

Investigators are trying to determine why Rosa was inside Fanning's business.
