Blizzard drops first hints at next Overwatch character

23 February 2017

The momentum might be building for Terry Crews to play Doomfist as the new Overwatch hero but game director has shut that right down with eight words.

When Kaplan joined Blizzard 15 years ago, he said, creating a new game from scratch felt like it would have been a fun and inspiring dream come true. It's also a possibility that she will pilot a hero via remote control - perhaps even with multiple drones being used as different abilities, if community speculation is to be believed.

This is where the fun begins.

"Well, I've always been interested". When I started to get good at it, I tried to build robots to do my chores and help around the house. My parents think it's's no fair!

"We wanted there to be heroes that would be approachable for each person", Kaplan said.

The new Overwatch character is probably coming pretty soon, however. Most definitely, Blizzard is waiting for the opportune moment to surprise its community with information about the new hero, be it Doomfist or otherwise. In just a short time, fans have posted all over Twitter and Tumblr in hopes of protecting Efi from harm through sheer force of will in some kind of The Secret-like scheme.

Now let's turn over to Sombra, one of the recent additions to the Overwatch roster.

There are two memos at issue here; one dealing with interior immigration enforcement, and the other with border security. Make the Road New York, an immigration advocacy group based in Brooklyn, criticized the memos soon after their release.

Efi expresses her interest in using her robotics and AI knowledge to "build something that can keep us safe". This has led to suggestions that the new Omnic could potentially be the new Doomfist, as "The Successor".

In any case, this teaser post also serves to end the rumors that the next Hero is going to be Doomfist, Game Rant reports.

You can see where this meme comes in.

"I was preparing for this talk and I took a moment to study some of the shooters over the last 10 years and I was looking into these game, and these are some of my favourite games of all time".

Eighty of that 140 would be permanently relocated to other Blizzard game teams, and 20 would be "long-term loans", working on other Blizzard projects for six months to two years.
