MLB Rumors: Reds Agree To Trade Brandon Phillips To Braves; Return 'Minimal'

MLB Network insider Ken Rosenthal reported Saturday evening that the Braves are nearing a trade to acquire the second baseman from the Reds. Phillips will be manning the keystone for a team other than the Reds for the first time in over a decade.

Days before they report for spring training, the Braves have added a whole new layer of intrigue to their second base situation, reportedly landing Brandon Philips from the Reds.

In Phillips, who waived his no-trade clause to be sent to Atlanta, the Braves get a veteran player who was a three-time all star with Cincinnati. At the time of the crash, Rodriguez's injuries were reported as minor.

Atlanta was motivated to make the deal after free-agent acquisition Sean Rodriguez was injured in an auto accident back on January 28 in which he banged up his left shoulder. The other driver, who had stolen a police cruiser and t-boned into the Rodriguez family's vehicle, perished.
