Alibaba's Jack Ma discusses United States job creation with Donald Trump

12 January 2017

Jack Ma met Trump in NY, and the two talked U.S.

Ma and Trump left the Trump Tower where the meeting was held together. "Ma is going to say that because those are the buzzwords that appeal to the incoming administration".

From the Trump-Ma meeting, and the president-elect's previous meetings with some other business leaders, it seems that he is willing to adopt a less belligerent and more flexible approach than some of his remarks might suggest, and "everything is negotiable" so long as there is a benefit to the US.

Alibaba spokesperson told CNBC before the meeting that the Chinese online retail giant company would create 1 million jobs over the next five years, Ma's comments fixated on supporting small businesses.

The problem becomes even larger when considering the fact that Chinese counterfeiters can expand their sales to American markets through Amazon.com or eBay.

Mr Ma met US President-elect Donald Trump on Monday to discuss how the company could add US businesses to its platform.

An attack on diplomatic personnel is a federal crime in Mexico. "They should vary the times and routes of their movements". Federal Bureau of Investigation is offering a reward of $20,000 for information that helps to identify the shooter.

The deal will increase Alibaba's stake from 28% to 74% after it first invested US$692mil (RM3.09bil) in the firm in 2014.

In December, Alibaba expanded its USA -based operations in New York City by leasing more than 30,000 square feet in downtown Manhattan in attempts to increase its influence in the United States. Brick-and-mortar businesses will be able to create value for consumers if they are integrated with the power of mobile reach, real-time consumer insights, and technology capability to improve operating efficiency. "We also think, that the relationship between China and the USA should be strengthened, be more friendly, and better". That has raised concerns across the spectrum as business and academic circles are anxious about the future of global trade and China-U.S. relations.

The company has in recent years been aggressively courting foreign brands to set up Tmall stores to sell to China's vast and growing middle class by offering to smoothen out Chinese sales, payment and shipping processes.

"We had a great meeting", Trump told the press pool at Trump Tower. "This, in turn, will help create American jobs and increase US exports", Ma wrote in a 2015 opinion piece published in The Wall Street Journal. Low sales through Alibaba's platform would hardly help small business in the United States to generate jobs, they said.

Alibaba also sees an opportunity in helping Chinese brands upgrade their computer systems, letting them adjust inventories more quickly in response to demand - an undertaking that now requires several layers of reporting between stores and the brand.
