5 potential candidates to replace Sonny Dykes as Cal's head coach

10 January 2017

Dykes accumulated a 19-30 record in four seasons with the Golden Bears.

Dykes, 47, joined Cal after three seasons at Louisiana Tech, where he went 22-15. Cal would presumably like to move quickly, given how little time there is left to complete a recruiting class before signing day on February 1.

In December, Dykes interviewed for the head coaching opening a Baylor that ultimately went to Matt Rhule.

Names being tossed around to fill in at Cal are Spavital, Ron Rivera, and Chip Kelly- but Kelly is, probably, out of Cal's price range since the school is going to pay Dykes $5-million to leave after a recent contract extension.

The Bears ranked fourth nationally in passing offense and 10th in total offense, but were 125th in total defense and 127th in scoring defense.

The vehicle will be powered with autonomous features and created to appeal to the segment of buyers who like compact crossovers. At the same time , Ford is canceling the plans to build a $1.6 billion site in Mexico, for building the Focus and Fusion.

Dykes brought national attention to the program last season with an 8-5 record, a bowl win, and the play of quarterback Jared Goff.

Speculation will now turns to Dykes' successor, with former OR and San Francisco 49ers coach Chip Kelly's name likely to be linked to the job. The deal was finally worked out and Dykes' deal was extended through the 2019 season. "This wasn't the result of what happened on the football field, we evaluated the program overall".

On the surface, it would seem that maybe a Kelly-Cal marriage would make some sense, if Cal could actually afford it.

We have another surprising coaching vacancy. The Golden Bears new head coach spent the three previous seasons at Texas A&M, and helped led California to nation's 10th best offense in terms of yards this past season.
