Overall, FCA reported USA sales at 176,609, its second consecutive monthly decrease.
Dodge brand sales fell 16 percent, with only the Journey recording a sizeable sales gain and the Viper selling one more vehicle this October - 62 to 61 past year. But after a strong first half, sales have declined in September and August on an annual basis. Jeep brand sales are up 10 percent calendar year to date compared with the first 10 months of last year.
FCA reported October sales of 19,527 vehicles, down from 22,031 units during the same month in 2015, the company said in a statement.
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles posted a 10.3% sales decline for the month, as all of its brands except the truck-heavy Ram lineup recorded sales decreases. Sales of its top-selling Chevrolet Silverado pickup fell almost 4 percent but Chevrolet Tahoe SUV sales rose 81 percent while GMC Acadia SUV sales were up 24 percent.
"On the surface, it might look like a slow month for sales, but in fact the industry's performance was much stronger than the raw numbers suggest", says Edmunds.com analyst Jessica Caldwell.
Fiat brand sales dropped 24 percent in the month. Its truck sales rose 12%, which weren't enough to offset the sharp 33% decline in vehicle sales.

In total, analysts expect about 1.35 million vehicles sold in October. The automaker, in a statement, said the fire in an electrical substation caused Ford to lose power, as well as Ford Credit office buildings and a data center that dealers use to report sales.
"We gained profitable retail share in October while spending less than the industry average on incentives and commanding the industry's best average transaction prices for any full-line automaker", Kurt McNeil, GM's vice president of United States sales operations, said in a statement.
Minivan sales, which had been a strength for FCA all year - up 41 percent - with the introduction of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, fell 23 percent in October. Sales of the Prius hybrid were down 46.5 percent despite a recent redesign.
Nissan Motor Co.'s sales declined 2.2%, as an 11% rise in truck sales tempered a 13% decline in vehicle sales.
-Hyundai Motor Co.'s sales were up 4.1 percent to 62,505. Sales of the Tacoma small pickup rose 4 percent and Lexus SUV sales jumped 6 percent. JD Power and LMC Automotive predicted a 0.8 percent slide year-over-year in sales, still close to all-time highs. Honda Motor Co. reported is sales fell 4.2% as vehicle demand slipped 4.9%, offsetting a 1.1% rise in light trucks.
Meanwhile, German automaker Volkswagen Group's namesake brand continued its prolonged sales slump as the company tries to overcome a diesel emissions scandal and an outdated product lineup that have kept shoppers away from the showroom.
