Tamblyn announced she was expecting her first child - a girl - on 26 October (16), in a published essay for Glamour.com, in which she addressed the challenges women face in today's society.

The 33-year-old wrote in an essay for Glamour magazine that she is "going to be a mother soon". I'm pregnant, with a daughter on the way. "I don't think anyone can be".

Tamblyn, who Wednesday Arrested Development star Cross in 2012, won't be the only new mum in her group of friends - her The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants co-star and best pal Blake Lively recently welcomed her second child with husband Ryan Reynolds, while their castmate Alexis Bledel secretly became a mum previous year (15).

The veteran actress then shifts her focus in this piece to the current political climate and how it's been affecting her thoughts about bringing a girl into the world.
