Trevor Siemian Named Broncos' Starting QB: Is He Worth A Fantasy Add?

30 August 2016

Trotting out Siemian or Lynch isn't ideal in a sport where it all starts with the quarterback. Siemian, a seventh-round pick in the 2015 draft, has shown he made the most of his season with Peyton Manning in the Broncos' run to last season's Super Bowl win.

Denver picked Siemian in the 7th round in the 2015 draft, and he appeared in just one game past year, where he didn't throw a pass and ran just once for a loss of a yard.

Siemian looked composed and comfortable as he finished 10-of-17 for 122 yards with a touchdown and an interception against the Rams.

He played collegiately at Northwestern and was a seventh round pick by the Broncos a year ago.

He started the day slow but picked up steam in the second quarter and went into halftime leading all rushers with 11 carries for 50 yards. The Broncos acquired Sanchez from the Philadelphia Eagles for a conditional 2017 draft pick, and they'd have to pay him $4.5 million if they don't cut him.

We are entering the most active period in the Atlantic hurricane season, which typically runs from June 1st to November 30th. Upper-level winds are preventing significant development of the kind needed for the storm to become a hurricane.

Whether Siemian will be Manning's replacement for the entire season is still yet to be determined. Tony Romo's back injury could sideline him for close to half of the regular season, making rookie Dak Prescott the starter.

I like the way the Rams have been playing, but I'm loving the quarterback battle going on in Denver, making it hard for me to pick a side. He completed 27-of-43 passes for 285 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions this preseason.

While facing a quarterback as green as Siemian may be a salivating prospect for the Panthers, the primary issue in the Super Bowl loss to Denver came on the other side of the ball. "I can tell you whoever lines up out there for us will be expected to play well and play well for a very good football team". What I see is a guy getting better. And to my surprise, fans don't seem panicked at the prospect of a quarterback from Northwestern starting for the team. "I (learned) preparation Monday-Saturday from him", Siemian said.

While Broncos fans may be nervous going into the season with two players who have never attempted an National Football League pass holding down the most important position in the sport, they should be encouraged that the team clearly feels comfortable with Lynch playing, if necessary.
