Riyad Mahrez: Claudio Ranieri has 'higher expectations' for Leicester City winger

21 August 2016

Leicester City and star winger Riyad Mahrez have agreed on a new contract, as the Algeria worldwide is set to continue his career with the Foxes.

Arsene Wenger has refused to confirm whether Arsenal had an interest in signing Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City this summer.

The Algerian ace starred as the Foxes won the Premier League title last season, smashing 17 goals and setting up 11 others.

Mahrez would have been a fantastic signing for Arsenal, as he had a fantastic year last season en route to the PFA Player of the Year award.

The first moment of contention in the Arsenal box occurred late in the half, after Petr Cech had saved at the feet of Jamie Vardy.

Each of these sides' last seven encounters have seen both teams score: back a road win with goals for both teams and +3.5 goals appeal at 10/3 and 7/4.

Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri is confident that midfielder Danny Drinkwater will soon put pen to paper on a new deal.

He scored just four times in his first top-flight season before developing into an integral part of Leicester's team under Claudio Ranieri. "The managers make mistakes, the referees make mistakes, the players make mistakes".

Boult came back after lunch and made another crucial breakthrough when he had top-scorer Hashim Amla caught behind for 53. New Zealand needed 10 overs to claim the final two wickets they needed to wrap up the Proteas' first innings for 263.

"I don't want to speak about the decisions". You are absolutely convinced that I don't want to spend the money, but I would like to reassure you that we are ready to spend the money we have.

Last year's Premier League top two both need a win.

"I believe it is better I don't speak about any individual player", the Frenchman said.

Wenger's transfer policy has been publicly criticised by many former players, including Arsenal's record goalscorer Thierry Henry.

Arsenal finished in second place in the Premier League table last season after hoisting themselves above Tottenham Hotspur on the final day of the season. We were shocking at the back last week but Koscielny's return will be a huge boost and I think we'll come away with a hard fought point.

The only high profile Leicester player to leave the champions is French worldwide, N'gole Kante.

After the season ended with rumors swirling about a possible transfer, Mahrez's agent Kamel Bengougam said it was only "50-50" that he'd stay. Also joining Arsenal is Takuma Asano and Rob Holding, from Bolton. The London club are in dire need of a central defender following the injuries to Gabriel Paulista and Per Mertesacker, whilst Germany global Shkodran Mustafi has been linked with the club.
