Instagram not only took the idea, but it's actually improving upon it, by making the channel personalized for each user, highlighting the events they might like. The new Event channel will be found in the Explore section of Instagram where other similar channels like Fitness and Food present. They include a "Picked for You" channel, which was seen as a response to Snapchat, featuring videos grouped by a user's favorite topics and interests.
For the second time this month, Instagram has stolen a feature from Snapchat, this time with the introduction of Event Channels. But not only that, it's opened those features up to the 300 million people who use Instagram each day, which is double the number of people that use Snapchat each day.
Expanding on their video offerings, Instagram has recently announced a new Events channel under the Explore tab.
If that sounds familiar, that's because it's pretty much the exact same idea behind Snapchat's Live Stories feature, in which it collects photos and videos that are location based, as in all of the content will revolve around a singular event, like a concert.

After winning, Claye then approached Harrison who was watching from the crowd and bent down on one knee to pop the question. American Christian Taylor retained his Olympic triple jump title with a season's best leap of 17.86m.
Instagram's Events channel is a direct competitor to Snapchat's user experience, and it is an acknowledgment that Snapchat has become a key challenger to Facebook and Instagram's social media reach. It's hardly revolutionary but it does improve the video system especially since Instagram now allows for video clips up to one minute long.
Despite this major jab at Snapchat, Instagram has not yet stolen its audience away with the release of "Stories.' Time will tell if dedicated Snapchatters begin to trickle over to the dark side". For example, Snapchat and Twitter have been selling multi-million dollar sponsorships for its upcoming live event National Football League that would commence on September 8 2016. It was reported earlier that Instagram is testing Channels, which will put together different genres of videos at one place.
Some are seeing the adoption of stories by the Facebook owned-Instagram Stories as an obvious encroachment onto Snapchat's territory. This new feature only shows the events you like.
Facebook first introduced its live-streaming feature a year ago, and it's been hugely beneficial, in my opinion. Snapchat users will receive a notification if you take a screenshot of their snap.
